The principles of the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. This is a holistic system based in nature and represents the fundamental qualities of all matter in the universe. Ancient practitioners noted the cycle of the world around them with the change of seasons and recognized that the same rhythm occurs in animals and humans. Not only is our health influenced by the elements, but human behavior, emotions, and personalities can be distinguished from them as well.
The elements relate to energies seen in the seasons and resonate with specific organs of the body. There is a recognition that the energy flows in a specific direction. Since the whole body is connected, when one energetic is not functioning correctly, it can affect the entire system, creating physical or emotional disturbance. The goal of a Five Element practitioner is to achieve equilibrium between all of the Elements and to bring Body, Mind, and Soul into absolute harmony.
When needles are inserted, there is an expectation to feel a slight dull sensation. Beyond this feeling, there is no pain with acupuncture.
Acupuncture can be good for several conditions from back pain, physical injury, indigestion and vertigo to emotional conditions such as anxiety, depression and grief.
Acupuncture is simply reminding the body of its own innate healing capabilities. The insertion of needles is assisting the twelve main energy channels of the body to flow correctly and help remove any stagnation that might be residing in our system.
Once the first appointment is made, you will be sent the intake paperwork electronically which you will fill out and send back for review before meeting. The first appoint will take on average 90-120 minutes, in which we will review your health history and have a treatment. Subsequent appointments will be 50-60 minutes.
Each case is individual and there is no way to know how long it will take for specific ailments to dissolve. Conditions that are chronic and have been around for a good amount of time will take longer to reverse as opposed to a condition that is acute. It is expected to see a shift within 5-6 treatments.
Empire BCBS, which the local schools use, has full 100% coverage of acupuncture treatments. NYSHIP has a deductible of $1,250. Once that deductible is met, they cover 80% of the treatment. If you do not have either one of these insurances, please call your own company to find out what coverage, if any, that you have. I will not bill the insurance company myself but will happily provide a super bill for you to submit on your own.
I accept cash, check and credit card. There will be a 3% processing fee on all credit card transactions.
Sometimes the chronic conditions that we face are brought on by the choices we make for our own bodies. Beyond the needles, some dietary and lifestyle recommendations might be made to further your progress.
The first appointment is $160 and lasts 90 minutes - two hours. Subsequent appointments are $100 and are 50-60 minutes.
